And She Never Returned, by Alfonso Simonetti, (1840-1892)
This is a Full Moon just released from Saturn’s boney clutches & aching towards a Venusian embrace with host Jupiter at 15° Taurus - the exaltation of the Moon. It’s a mutual reception, of sorts.
A hopeful Full Moon indeed…
Our generous Jupiter Moon grows fat & glistening as a rare pearl, hovering close to Gaia. Our starmap is currently scattered with no less than 6 planetary retrogrades. It’s tricky to plan, or to see ahead just yet whilst our planetary brethren are preoccupied with re-do’s & re-thinks.
As prep for the Full Moon, Uranus Le Strange turned rx at 23° Taurus. Intentions are everything as Uranus lurches drunkenly back towards the Moon’s host Jupiter, plodding steadily, hoofed & horn’d in the Greening. Jup makes do & mends while Venus is hobbling backward, still blind-folded but gaining dignity as a Morning Star.
Keep your eyes on the prize, luvs.
This is the first Piscean lunation in many a year in which La Lune swims with Saturn, & a crucial point in Saturn’s own cycle. Saturn has a tendency to vinegar the waters - adding a splash of witch hazel & fear to brew a brackish melancholia. It’s a case of pucker up, buttercup. Though Saturn’s retro motion does mitigate its malevolence, the undersea maze of early Pisces has grown more mysterious, dour & foreboding with Saturn’s presence there lately.
Yet this only strengthens rather than diminishes the breathtaking Romanticism of this potent placement.
In the hours leading up to the Full Moon we’re offered a healing crisis. A cathartic release & reset for that Pisces sliver of real estate in your natal chart. Grieve for Lost Things if you must, for this part of the zodiac offers us an infinitely nutritive primordial soup for the creative imagination. From this ocean of story, suspended in the bounds of Venus, we channel the mythic mind, the immortal swan-songs of fixed star Deneb Adige, & the creation myths of Orpheus.
It’s from this realm of the fishes we can resource mineral-rich creative capacities. Hope & compassion are bioluminescent in the dark. Sublime fish food for the soul.
Sea Serpent, by Megan Britnell.
But as we roll in the deep during these hours of Saturnian darkness, seeking the star of the sea, we may have to confront the stern wisdom of harsh realities, injustices, fears & failures. Those devouring Krackens of our emotional undertows.
As the Full Moon blooms, swim towards the shore. Hold onto the thread of tenderness that weds you to the siren depths; but tether yourself to patience, humility & due diligence - virtues Sol in Virgo now offers.
Freedom & possibility feel like a star in the dawn.
The Guiding Light, by Andrea Fossati
Ah funny you mention Orpheus. I’ve been writing devotional poems to the planets this week. In between waves of anxiety and self doubt about everything and nothing 😆
